Things are progressing quietly in Hjmasker, not far from Lake Balaton. First, shipyard boss Imre Scholtz established the Scholtz 22, which has since become a one-design, then the Sudar, an alternative to the H-boat. Then, in 2005, the first large yacht, a polarisingly designed, fast 32-footer. More than 15 of these have now been sold. Now the family business with 15 employees is taking the next step.
With the 8.8 Daysailer, a classy boat for pleasure sailing is being launched, and with the Scholtz 34, a big sister to the 32. And for those on a tight budget, the shipyard will in future be offering a deck alternative for the popular Sudar, with less living space and more cockpit. Daysailer light, because with a target price of 72,000 euros, the new 8.8. creation is deliberately a premium product.
Although it is also based on the hull of the Sudar, it has been given a stern that is around 80 centimetres longer, a larger cockpit with a smaller superstructure and a significantly higher rig. All in all, a successful modification, both visually and sailing-wise. An electric motor is included in the price to help you return to harbour in calm conditions.
The large 34 is also to be fitted with an additional electric motor, but the shipyard has initially stalled on realising this as a swivel-mounted bow thruster due to a lack of suppliers. A classic Volvo diesel with 20 hp will be used for the time being, but the yacht can easily reach its hull speed under gennaker even in light winds. Not surprisingly, as the boats are built and sailed in one of the lightest wind areas in Europe.
YACHT has already had the opportunity to test sail both new models, and interested parties can also view the daysailer at the upcoming Interboot.
